QUESITO:
La mia domanda riguarda la traduzione del seguente testo in lingua inglese.
“Having worked with any number of students through the years, I feel that meditators should follow the breathing where it seems most vivid and comfortable to them, where it is most likely to hold their attention. None of these places will always, in every sitting, remain the most vivid. But it is important not to keep jumping from one to another, feeding an already restless mind”.
Nella frase None of this places will always, in every sitting, remain the most vivid l’avverbio always non significa ‘in tutte le sedute’, sta solo dicendo che sempre in ogni seduta accade questo? Per spiegarmi meglio, non sta spiegando tra le parentesi cosa intende per always.
RISPOSTA:
La parte tra virgole, in every sitting, contraddice il verbo remain, perché il fatto che i posti non rimarranno vividi nel ricordo riguarda certamente la vita futura oltre le sedute, non le sedute di meditazione future. La traduzione che mi sembra più plausibile è questa: “Nessuno di questi posti sperimentati nelle sedute rimane mai più vivido degli altri”.
